Mikey learns a lesson on his bday

Pooh Bear is a loyal friend. The kind we all need once in a while. Pooh Bear got lost when we moved back from Houston. We called the hotel in Nevada, the last place we remembered seeing him. We called my brother in Boise, hoping that my niece was taking good care of him for us. No such luck. Mikey felt like he lost his best friend. There were tears and few nights when it was hard to fall asleep without him. There was talk of the lost bear now and again, always accompanied with misty eyes.

Mikey prayed every night that God would bring Pooh Bear home, we assured him that God knew exactly where the bear was. A month went by, then two, then three. He wanted to know why God wasn't answering his prayer for Pooh Bear. Dad told him God always answers prayers, but sometimes the answer isn't what we want to hear. I explained that God might have a new plan for Pooh Bear, maybe there was another boy or girl who needed him more than Mikey did. Oh we of little faith. But my son has faith like a child. He prayed for four months, five months, six months, seven months. As March rolled around Mikey asked for the bear to come home by his birthday.

Then my brother called, they found Pooh Bear. They put him in the mail. Pooh Bear arrived on Mikey's 7th birthday.

Maybe I learned the lesson on Mikey's birthday. Thank you Jesus.

What a wonderful faith builder for your son. OK, for us adults too. So often we are apt to give up early, intellectually comprehending the situation and then writing it off. I am certain God will bring this story back to mind when I want to give up on praying for something. Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful child you have raised. Well done!

What a beautiful story!!!! You should read the book "A Praying Life" by Paul Miller. He touches on this very thing....

I should have taken this more to heart...I didn't realize if I had been praying for you to move back for 7 months you would be back here in TX with me!!!!
