Can someone explain how to put a list in my sidebar with different categories for blog posts? I like it when other people have them in their blogs so I can check out the categories I am most interested in, like kids crafts, or home decorating while weeding out the stuff that doesn't pertain to me.

I think this is what you are talking about: when you are on your blog, click "customize" in the top right corner, then click "add a page element" on the top right of the edit layout page, and then click "link list." I have made numerous lists in my personal blog, based on where I have gotten to know people. You can make lists based on crafts, home decorating, etc. I don't know if that helps, but I hope it does! (Oh, and thanks for the burrito "recipe." We just might make that tonight for dinner!)
