This is serious, we must get busy.

Last night I was able to listen in on a webcast (I think the audio from the webcast will be available on their site soon.) put on by the pro-life group Americans United for Life. AUL rallied some big names in the fight for pro-life, and they came together as a united front to give us information, facts, and statistics about the healthcare bill being proposed by the current administration.

This bill and it's various components have some serious implications for pro-lifers. Not just for abortion, but for terminally ill, mentally and physically handicapped, and elderly Americans. I never thought I would see the day when our country was ruled by tyrannical, activist, Hitler types. But it is here, and we must stop it.

Please get informed, and then ACT on the information. This is not the time for any of us to be complacent, there isn't any room or any time left for us to "wait and see." We must rally the troops and fight before it is too late.

Thank you Christian for your boldness to stand up for the truth! You have inspired me to do something about this!

Now this part is to your commenter Brenbren:
When a woman has been raped or a victim of incest, she has been the victim of a terrifying act of violence of which she is a true victim. Tragically, we are some times faced with a second victim of this great crime committed by the rapist, a baby. While pregnancy is extremely rare from rape, it can happen. The cruelest thing that can happen to the women in question is to now be pitted against her child, who is the second victim. In several studies done across America, women who were encouraged to use abortion in such circumstances felt that they had been put through a second act of violence, the violence and pain of the mechanical rape of abortion. Worse than that, they stated feelings of being made into the victimizer of their own child. they felt that their baby had paid with his/her life for the crime of the rapist.

Meanwhile, mothers who found support to carry their children to term, whether they opted for adoption or kept their babies, felt that they'd turned something horrible into something life-giving. The key here is support for both victims, mother and child. (to read more go here http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/facts/responseargument5.html )

But even if you thought that people should have the right to choose abortion in this situation, why would you think it was okay to force people to pay for this? People with this stand claim to be pro-choice, but this is the ultimate anti-choice!

Brenbren,
Thank you for your comment. Thank you for disagreeing respectfully and not just blasting my pro-life stance. I feel like you opened a door for some meaningful conversation, and would like to dialog with you about this, but not if it would turn into a full-on, angry, hateful argument. That just isn't my style.

I am pro-life, not just for babies, but for all human beings. This stance comes from my worldview that an ever-present, all-knowing, all-powerful, good, and just God created each individual with a purpose, regardless of age, physical capabilities or mental capacity. Given that fact, it is obvious that I cannot in good conscience support a bill that uses my money to pay for abortions, euthanasia, or rations health care coverage for individuals that are terminally ill or handicapped in anyway.

However there are plenty of people who agree with me without holding the same religious views. 71% of Americans do not want tax-payer funded abortions. That is an overwhelming majority. Unfortunately this administration cares little for governing "of the people, by the people and for the people." It seems that from the top down there is a push to pass a very radical agenda that most Americans are opposed to, I cannot be silent at such a critical time in our nation's history. This is a make-it or break-it time for our great country.

In response to a woman's right to choose I would say the following. And I think this is where our disagreement could take a turn for the worse. A woman does not have the right to choose to take another human being's life, regardless of her personal reasons. God is the author, creator and sustainer of life. This is not to say that I don't have the utmost sympathy and regard for a woman who has gone through an abortion. My heart goes out to and longs to help women who have such an incredible burden to bear. I can't imagine the pain and the weight that is carried on her shoulders, and it breaks my heart.

In my post I said nothing of my religious views, only my political views. In this reply I have said much about my religious views because they shape every part of my thinking. This was not done to push, but to thoroughly explain my stance.

As for the rape of a woman and conception of a child, God help both of them in such a horrific tragedy. Again I have nothing but heartache and compassion for anyone in such a place, and I agree 100% with Mrs. Jones comment.

In your reply you agree that tax-payers shouldn't have to pay for abortions, and that was really what my post was all about. Take the steps to insure that your voice is heard and tax-payer funded abortions are explicitly excluded from any health care reform proposal or bill.

I also want to say thank you for this post, I think you are spot on. These are sad and scary times. Thanks for giving me the motivation and outlet to stand up for my beliefs and rights as a US Citizen. Now here is to hoping someone is listening and cares.
